27th Annual Spring Garden Party @ Tudor Place Historic House & Garden

Join friends, neighbors and celebrants who will gather on Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. for the 27th Annual Spring Garden Party at Tudor Place.

This festive event, chaired by Beth Clifton and Whitney Rosenthal, draws prominent Washingtonians and guests from around the nation.

Bruce Whelihan, a stalwart and longtime supporter and former trustee, will be honored at the biggest fundraiser of the year for Tudor Place Historic House & Garden.

Join us at a Garden Luncheon with lauded interior designer and author of Dazzling Design, Amanda Nisbet of Amanda Nisbet Design.

Nisbet, a self-described “color whisperer,” has an inherent ability to create spaces that are simultaneously comfortable and elegant.

Enjoy a lovely lunch with friends under the tent on the sprawling South Lawn, and a presentation by this design guru, who is based in New York City and Richmond. Nisbet is known for mixing seemingly opposite materials, styles, classic motifs, and contemporary idioms to create inspiring spaces that are beautiful, joyful and unforgettable.

Join our weekend program tailored to inspire creativity and stimulate the senses. Toddler-approved activities are based on a weekly theme and include songs, stories, crafts, and movement. Parents/caregivers must remain with children at all times.

Women of Tudor Place Tea & Tour @ Tudor Place Historic House & Garden

Commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment by experiencing a Tudor Place Tea & Tour with a female focus. Martha Washington’s devoted granddaughter. The enslaved woman who lived in her own home. The widowed single mother who ran the estate in wartime. The world traveler who served victims of World War I. For two centuries, the women of Tudor Place have been fierce, independent, and ahead of their time.

Jazz in the ‘Hoods at Tudor Place: Nichole Saphos Trio @ Tudor Place Historic House & Garden

Relax on the beautiful Tudor Place grounds with the music of a jazz trio featuring bassist Nicole Saphos. Saphos has performed at The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Strathmore Mansion, and The Kimmel Center, and has played with Terell Stafford, Joanna Pascale, The Cab Calloway Orchestra, Sharon Clark, Chuck Redd, and Paul Carr. She has been featured in the Washington City Paper, and earned the Exceptional Bass Soloist Award from the Essentially Ellington Competition in 2008.

Since 2005, the DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) organization has provided enriching and entertaining jazz performances and programs that introduce students and adults from all walks of life to jazz, our nation’s singular original art form. Tudor Place is pleased to welcome jazz fans to our historic grounds as a host of the 2019 Jazz Festival’s Jazz in the ‘Hoods program. We will be vending light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks during this outdoor event.
